VIP sneaky peak and insight at some very early prelim sketches for The ELF.B.I. and The Search For Santa’s Sleigh just for you!
I’m all in when it comes to creating conversation topics for children and parents. Children learn so quickly and literally soak up information, especially from picture books, like little snogalicous sponges!
Dodik the illustrator and I become super engrossed talking over the finer details in illustrations for this very reason!
For example, take a look at the door sign to the ELF.B.I. Office! This shows reverse words when the door is closed.
When the door is opened by Santa, it shows the readable words on the opposite side of the door.
This is sure to capture the child’s attention and increase awareness of these particular words in the pictures. I'm sure they will wish to discuss as their inquisitive minds go into overdrive.
Children are super smart! Stretching their learning abilities in a fun way like this aids their development without them even realising.
Parents/adult readers aiding the young ones are then the key to the fountain of knowledge as they interact and discuss what their little ones have discovered.
These sketches are by no means the final result before colour and print. There's a lot of work to be done just yet. However, I wanted to share this blog with you to show you how much thought goes into creating a fabulous story for learning with fun and outstanding illustrations to marvel at. My aim is for your little ones to love, enjoy and cherish my stories forever.
They are my muse.
Stay tuned for more sketches to come!
